Food Network: Fake and Blurred Labels

Why do all the food products on Rachel Ray's "Thirty Minute Meals" (airs on the Food Network weekdays at 1800 and 1830 and weekends at 1130) have fake labels on them?

I'm noticing now that "Good Eats" with Alton Brown has started taping over labels and "Everyday Italian" with Giada De Laurentiis blurs the labels.

What's up with this? If the product is good, why not extoll its virtues? It can't be because the food's manufacturer doesn't want it. I mean, why would you not want your product to be associated with good cooking?

What's up with this?

I have studied a bit behind this, mainly when people are in reality shows and their shirt is blurred out because it has a logo on it.

Companies (i.e. Food Network) have strict policy when it comes to advertising and subliminal advertising in their shows. If a product on a show is not advertised already in their commercial breaks, then they make sure it's not in their shows either.

It just has to do with the parent company of Food Network. They don't want to give out free advertising on their network...they want companies to pay for their logo to be there.

See those Kraft commercials on FN? Kraft paid a heafty sum for those commercials and they have been featured in some of FN's programming.

However, due to the option of syndication, Rachel and Alton may still cover up all lables so that any network can pick up and syndicate the shows, without fear of free advertising products on the show.

But, this is only theory and opinion...but I do have a strong feeling that I'm right...companies are greedy.

So ">_>" is your only response? Is there some faulty information in my comment? Or are you refering to Randy's post in general?

Smilies usually do not suffice as 'reply material'. Try words, they really help.
